GMVA

GMVA is the original age group for the Greater Melbourne Volleyball Academy, typically for girls and boys in secondary school year 9 to 12, however exceptions are made for athletes outside this age range who show something special.
The squad trains on Monday nights at the State Volleyball Centre in Dandenong from 6:30 to 8:45 on a weekly basis. We do however train at South Melbourne beach at times during the beach volleyball cycle to get exposure to playing the sport in all the various conditions that Melbourne offers!
GMVA is a fantastic stepping stone for young volleyballers who want to become the best player they can be both in volleyball skill and also in physical capabilities. We offer quality coaching that will help give the athletes the best chance of making national youth and junior programs and hopefully gaining an Australian Institute of Sport Scholarship. However, AIS scholarships are few and far between, so at GMVA we also look for our athletes to go over the Canada and America on volleyball full scholarships to further not only their volleyball but to gain a high quality and free education.
